Australia registers yet another CWC win

Mitchell Johnson celebrates

Australia continued its unbeaten run in ICC Cricket World Cups for yet another game as it beat New Zealand by seven wickets in a Group A match on Friday at Nagpur's VCA Stadium.

Batting first, New Zealand was bowled out for 206 in 45.1 overs and in its reply, Australia overhauled the target in 34 overs with seven wickets to spare.

Ealier New Zealand slipped to 73 for 6, before Jamie How and Nathan McCullum (52: 76b, 3x4), revived the innings. Later, McCullum and Daniel Vettori (44) added 54 runs for the eighth wicket to give the score some respectability.

For Australia, Mitchell Johnson (4-33) and Shaun Tait (3-35) were the best bowlers on view.

In its reply, Australia was well served by 133 run opening stand between Shane Watson (62: 61b, 6x4, 1x6) and Brad Haddin (55: 50b, 8x4). Hamish Bennett claimed Watson and Haddin in the same over, but Australia ran home to yet another easy Cricket World Cup win as Michael Clarke led the way.
